Dr. Jennifer Dunn

Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering and Mechanical Engineering at Northwestern University

Dr. Jennifer Dunn is a professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering and (by courtesy) Mechanical Engineering. She is also the Director of the Center for Engineering Sustainability and Resilience and she is the Associate Director of the Northwestern-Argonne Institute of Science and Engineering.

Dr. Dunn studies emerging technologies, their energy and environmental impacts, and their potential to influence greenhouse gas and air pollutant emissions, water consumption, and energy consumption. Her areas of interest include hydrogen, plastics, nutrient recovery from water, biofuels and bioproducts, and sustainable mineral supply chains. Techno-economic, life cycle, and material flow analyses are primary tools in her research.  

She is a member of National Academies Committee on Developing a Research Agenda for Utilization of Gaseous Carbon Waste Streams and an Associate Editor for the SAE International Journal of Sustainable Transportation, Energy, Environment, and Policy.
